Holiday Meals for the Military

At just two feet tall, Bob’s Discount Furniture Spokespuppet is nearly the height of six cans of corn!

I am so grateful to have kicked off the Thanksgiving season with a few dozen of my closest Bob’s Discount Furniture colleagues to pack 200 bags full of groceries for our annual Holiday Meals for the Military partnership with Operation Homefront.

During the event, we stuffed grocery bags full of my favorite holiday meal ingredients like pumpkin pie filling, cornbread mix and more to be distributed to almost 100 military families at the Armed Forces Reserve Center in Middletown, Connecticut.

I helped one member of the U.S. Army carry her groceries to the car—that packet of gravy mix was heavy for a little spokespuppet like me! She told me, she and her daughter are going to make a sweet potato pie for Thanksgiving with some of the meal items distributed! I can smell that pie baking now!

Operation Homefront is also the recipient of funds raised in 164 Bob’s Discount Furniture cafés across the nation. Learn more about this Café Collection for a Cause happening now through Dec. 31, 2022. All funds donated are matched by Bob’s dollar-for-dollar, up to $75,000.

During the grocery distribution, Bob’s President and CEO Bill Barton joined in to help! I learned he has military roots and his son is an active military member.

“With our Café Collections for a Cause, Bob’s and our guests can support active military and veterans in the ways needed most through the work of Operation Homefront,” said Barton. “We are proud to provide new furniture and relief funds to support military families who have done and continue to do so much for all of us.”

Little Bob and his team of Bob’s employees team up with Operation Homefront to pack and distribute Holiday Meals for the Military.

Joe O’Hara, Area Director for Operation Homefront, organized the event, which is one of many nationwide. This year he anticipates more than 15,000 military families will be fed through Holiday Meals for the Military.

“With higher prices impacting all of us, military families need our help, and a meal can provide a much-needed financial lift for them at just the right moment,” said O’Hara.

I am grateful to my employees for their help packing grocery bags, but I am most grateful to the members of the military who have sacrificed so much to serve others.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Bob

I consider myself the luckiest spokespuppet ever because I get to talk about the thing I love the most everyday – furniture! Tufted headboards, rustic finishes, the difference between a sofa and a couch (yes, there is a difference)… I could go on and on. Oh, I just love furniture and I’m SO excited that I have this blog to share my passion with you! It may take me a little longer to create posts – have you ever tried typing with clay hands – but I look forward to talking furniture with you!
