How often should you change your mattress? That’s a question I hear a lot from customers trying to figure out when is the best time to buy a new mattress. Although there isn’t one specific answer to this question, there are a few common indicators to watch out for.
1. Your Favorite Show Just had a Reunion Special
This is probably a good sign it’s time to think about changing your mattress. Some mattresses have a lifespan of around 10 years. So, if you’re watching the reunion special of your favorite show on the same mattress that you had when the show started, well, it’s probably a good idea to think about getting a new mattress.
2. The Innersprings are Now Outersprings
Innersprings have their name for a specific reason—they’re supposed to be inside the mattress. If your springs are starting to break and pierce through the top layer of your mattress, it’s time to start shopping. And if you’ve been sleeping on an innerspring mattress for a long time, you’ll be excited to know that sleep technology has advanced a lot since you last purchased a mattress. More on that later.
3. Your Dog Doesn’t Even Want to Sleep on the Bed
Dogs have the innate ability to fall asleep pretty much anywhere. Heck, it’s a trait that I’m pretty jealous of! But, if you notice that your favorite pooch is no longer bellying up to the bed, then it might be time to change your mattress!
4. You Didn’t Invest in a Mattress Protector
Have you ever noticed how dust seems to have this superpower to find every single crevasse and shelf in your house and just hang out and accumulate? That comfortable spot that they’ve had for years has caused the mattress to sag and created a pit. After you send out a search party for your partner, you might want to start searching for a new mattress.
7. There’s a Symphony of Snoring in Your Bedroom
I just love the full sounds of a symphony orchestra. I do not enjoy the sounds of snoring. If you’ve noticed that your partner has started to snore or even that you’ve started to snore, you might want to try an adjustable base bed. 8. Your Warranty Has Expired
A quality mattress can last up to 15 years and sometimes even more, so the warranty should match the expected lifespan. If you’ve only had your mattress for a few years and the warranty has already expired, that could be an indicator of a poor quality mattress.
