December 13, 2019 – Bob’s Discount Furniture is doing their part to make local youth feel more at home. This year in honor of the holiday giving season, the national furnishings company is donating over $35,000 in furniture and home décor to LISA, Inc., (Living In Safe Alternatives), a non-profit organization that provides programs and services for the state’s most vulnerable youth, ages 14-23, in the child protection system in Connecticut. The delivery of new products to the independent living programs will take place on Friday, December 13, 2019. The media is invited to attend at 11:30am.
For over 47 years, the local agency has provided safe and stable homes to mistreated adolescents. The generous donation from Bob’s Discount Furniture will replace the damaged and decade old pieces now at the organization’s residential programs located in Plainville and Meriden. The new mattresses, platform beds, dressers, couches, rugs and wall art will give the foster care youth a sense of home to complement the efforts of the staff to provide a stable and secure environment for them.
“Receiving this generous donation was one of the biggest blessings our program has received,” shared Christina Cicero, MS, Program Director of Lisa’s Wish Program in Plainville. “Because of Bob’s generosity, our program and youth will benefit from a more comfortable, home-like environment to aid in the healing of our girls.”
“At Bob’s, we are committed to supporting local communities, and Giving Tuesday allows us to shine the spotlight on the many wonderful non-profit organizations we work with throughout the year,” said Colleen Wood, Director of Customer Care Services at Bob’s Discount Furniture. “As a Connecticut-based company, we have been moved by the great work LISA, Inc. does to empower, support, and provide a safe haven for local youth and their families. We encourage anyone who can to support the local charities and organizations that are making a big difference in their communities.
