It’s a new year and my expert team of stylish stylists are at it again. Everyday, all day, they spend hours working away in my studios, putting beautiful rooms together that inspire artists and poets alike! How do they do it?! I have no idea, but they are eager to tell us all about it.I’ve asked these lovely ladies to share some upcoming trends, room design tips and other tricks with you all.
Make waves with color!
“Classic blue is the Pantone color of the year, and I couldn’t be more excited! It’s vibrant, versatile and will bring a breath of fresh air into any living space. You can be bold and go monochromatic, like I’ve done with Bob’s Malibu Chofa, or you can mix it with other cool tones for a serene atmosphere. If you’re not ready to roll on the paint, try a bright sofa or other accents for a splash of blue instead.” – Tiana, Creative Director
Let it grow!
Speaking of life, it’s time to toss those fake things, real plants are in! And so is my carved trunk. “We like to use real plants on our sets because each one is unique and brings its own personality and life to a space. It’s an added bonus that we get to keep the plants when the sets are done. Our office is full of plants enjoying a happy retirement in sunny windows.” – Justine, Production Manager
Show your softer side.
My buying team tells me that comfy fabrics are IN! Plush textures, supple leather and cozy pieces can make any space cuddle worthy. A well placed chaise, a seat just big enough for two or a fuzzy chair set the scene, and a sherpa throw and pillow top it off!
Slumber under a canopy
Canopy beds are making a comeback, and my buying team happily sourced this stunning four post bed. They didn’t miss a single detail when coming up with this design! The scooped shape upholstered headboard panels are crafted with button tufting and over 2500 individually driven nailheads. The frame extends up into a canopy, making my Sutton bed an instant eye catcher.
Feel the flower power!
“Most people cringe at the thought of floral wallpaper, but in 2020 it’s getting a modern update and may have you thinking again. This is not your grandma’s wallpaper. Large scale, bold prints can add a vibrant splash of color to any room, and pair well with traditional or modern furniture. On our sets, we prefer to use stick on paper because we change it out so often, and there’s no reason to commit if you’re not too sure. Try it out, it might just grow on you.” – Tiana, Creative Director
Commit to a print
My merchandising team works tirelessly with vendors to bring in new, stylish designs – including fun prints for my upholstery pieces. “If you are hesitant to mix prints and patterns, then this trend will be sweet relief. Rather than trying to find something to compliment a print you love, you can just double down on it and go all out! For this look, we had a custom sticky wall paper made to match our Gracie pattern and it creates an outstanding sitting area.” – Tiana, Creative Director
Go go Grandmillenial!
“I know we knocked grandmas wallpaper before, that needle point though! This new trend is a beautiful clash of styles where traditional meets modern meets scandinavian meets boho meets glam. Or some might simply call it eclectic. The trick to nailing this look is to decorate your space with pieces that have personal meaning or history to you. Think of it as a room sized coffee table book, there’s a conversation starter with every piece.” – Carolina, Junior Art Director
