I can’t believe we’re already talking about Thanksgiving! It seems like just yesterday I was thinking about sunscreen and summer vacation, now I’m looking into stuffing recipes and sleeper sofas.
With summer in the rearview mirror, it’s time to take a look at the fall dining trends. My good friends at Pinterest provided me a look at the most popular searches around fall dining trends:
With plenty of people already in full Thanksgiving-prep mode, I put together my own list of dining room trends to keep an eye on this fall.
Farmhouse Dining Room
From the living room to the bedroom to the kitchen, the farmhouse look remains a popular style and the dining room is no different.
I’m seeing a lot of buzz around industrial farmhouse this fall. Industrial farmhouse incorporates the use of more refined metal accents and pieces, so not as much as the aged rustic look.
My Lennox Dining Set is the perfect mix of farmhouse and industrial. The metal base provides stability and a nice contrast to the hickory veneer top. Bob-O-Pedic Memory Foam seating provides plenty of comfort in the chairs, while the medium oak finish and nailheads around the seat enhance the industrial farmhouse look.
Have some unexpected guests show up for Thanksgiving dinner? No problem! The 18” removable leaf extends the length of your table up to 102”. Hey, don’t forget to leave a place setting for me!
Round Dining Table
While the large, rectangular dining table is always a popular shape, I’m seeing round tables as a dining trend this fall. Round tables are perfect for a small family, or close group of friends, because the design keeps everyone involved in the conversation. And if you’re short on space, my Blake Drop Leaf Table allows you to fold one of the edges and place your table right against the wall. Here are some more recommendations for round dining tables:

Smart Ideas for Small Dining Rooms
Apartment living can be a challenge when you’re dealing with small spaces. But don’t worry, I’ve got a few tips to maximize your small dining area. Here are a few highlights. For the full list of small list of ideas, visit 7 Space-Saving Tips to Maximize Your Small Dining Room.
Find a Corner
Not all apartments have a defined dining area, which is why you might just have to create one. Select a corner in your kitchen or living room to use as your dining space. Try to find an area near a window so you can take advantage of natural light. The bright beams of sunlight will help to make your space feel more open.
Choose a Compact Table
You’re going to need a table with a small footprint, but also one that supplies ample dining space. Try a bar table or a drop leaf table. I really like using drop leaf tables in small dining areas because it’s a great way to maximize space. Simply drop one of the leaves and push your table snug against the wall.
Go Vertical
Try using a small shelf or two for additional storage space. Shelves are great because they keep items off the floor and preserve valuable counter and table space. Plus they add a nice visual element to your space.
Chandeliers in the Dining Room
I know it’s easy to overlook lighting when designing a space, but I would advise taking the time to select the right lighting. Dramatic lighting such as a chandelier can really add a big WOW factor to your room and provide a great conversation starter. I just love how this chandelier looks over my Plaza 8 Piece Dining Set with Server.
Wire Brush Finish
Another fall dining trend I’m seeing is a wire brush finish. This finish provides a charming weathered look to any piece. Here are a few of my favorite dining sets with a wire brush finish:
Summit Dining Set
My Summit 7 Piece Dining Set includes an 18” removable leaf so you’re always prepared to entertain those last-minute guests. Your friends and family will love the slat-back dining chairs with a layer of Bob-O-Pedic Memory Foam.
Cosmopolitan Dining Set
Enjoy not one, but two removable leaves with my Cosmopolitan 7 Piece Dining Set. Talk about having plenty of room! Plus, the accompanying server has ample storage for all of your dining needs.
Elevations Dining Set
Go for a contemporary look with my Elevations 6 Piece Counter Set featuring a wire-brushed charcoal finish as well as brushed nickel accents and hardware. The storage space under the table makes this a great set for families. This set also includes a removable leaf.
Dark Finishes
I love the bold look of a dark finish. A bold finish can provide a nice contrast to other pieces and elements in your space. The dark finish on a dining room table pairs perfectly with neutral-colored chair cushions. Check out these dining sets with dark finishes:
Sanctuary Dining Set
My Sanctuary 7 Piece Dining Set features a beautiful weathered charcoal finish, reverse scroll base, stunning slat chairs and comfy Bob-O-Pedic Memory Foam Seating. This grand table has two removable 18” table leaves that extend the 76” table to 94” and then to 112”. Plus you have the option to include a storage bench.
Riverdale Dining Set
My Riverdale 7 Piece Dining Set is the perfect choice for entertaining a dinner party of any size. The table includes two 14” removable leaves so you can expand the table from 72” to 86” and even to 100”. And a layer of Bob-O-Pedic Memory Foam in every chair ensures that your guests will have comfy seating!
Sonoma Espresso Dining Set
The rich espresso finish on my Sonoma 7 Piece Counter Set is simply gorgeous! You’ll love the rustic charm of the entire set and the nailhead details on the chairs. Extra storage underneath the table gives you plenty of space to stow place settings and a tablecloth or two. Make sure you have a big tablecloth because the tabletop can expand from 60” to 80” in a flash. Finally, Bob-O-Pedic Memory Foam in the chairs and the storage bench provide comfy seating.
Montibello Black Dining Set
My Montibello Black Marble 7 Piece Dining set with a black marble top, black table legs and chair legs combined with white chairs is simply stunning! The vinyl chairs with Bob-O-Pedic Memory Foam provide a beautiful contrast to the all-black table.
Contrasting Tones
And last but not least, I’ve seen a lot of buzz around contrasting tones this fall. I really enjoy the visual impact of two different color tones next to each other. Plus, this expands your color palette and gives you more design options as you build out your room. Here are two of my favorite dining room sets with contrasting tones.
Blake
I just love the clean look of my Blake 7 Piece Dining Set with a gray finish and chocolate tabletop. The chocolate finish on the table and chairs really makes the tabletop and seats pop. If you find yourself with extra guests who stopped over to see this beautiful set, you don’t need to worry about finding space at the table. This set includes an 18” leaf so you can expand the table length from 48” to 66” in a snap.
Montana Dining room
My Montana 6 Piece Counter Set serves up style and storage! The distressed espresso tabletop provides a nice contrast to the white table legs and chairs. Always looking for extra storage? This set is for you. A total of six storage drawers—3 conveniently located on both sides of the table—provide plenty of space for napkins and table settings. To top off this set, all chairs have a layer of Bob-O-Pedic Memory Foam for maximum comfort.
