Walking in a Winter Wonderland!

Sleigh bells ring, are you listening? In the snow globe, snow is glistening. Yup, you read that right! Shake up your gift list this season with handmade snow globes sure to bring your friends and family lots of holiday cheer. Gather round the fire, grab your cocoa, and get to gifting!

What you’ll need:

Tip–Make sure to measure when picking out your ornament or figures so that they will fit inside the mason jar.
  • Mini ornaments
  • Mason jars
  • Glitter
  • Clear glue
  • Warm water
  • Measuring cups & spoons
  • Spoon
  • Glue gun

Step 1: Stuck on you like ig-glue.

Tip–apply a small piece of foam (if needed) on the inside of the lid to bump up the height of your ornament so that the base is visible.

Let your creativity run wild and customize your craft! This time of year, stores everywhere have a wide selection of mini-ornaments. Shop, choose your favorite, and glue away! Open your mason jar, and position your ornament on the inside of the lid how you’d like and use your hot glue gun to secure it to the inside of the lid. Give it some time to dry while you get your glitter & glue mixed.

Step 2: Go with the snow!

Pour clear glue into the jar until there is roughly ¾ of an inch along the bottom. Add warm water all the way up to the first line of the lid’s threading and mix! Add one heaping teaspoon of glitter and mix again.

Step 3: All in a sleigh’s work!

Tip–Place the inner piece of your lid first and ensure it’s resting properly to avoid any leaking.

Now that your winter wonderland scene is dry and secure, carefully insert it into the mixture, inner piece first, and then seal tight with the outer lid. Tip upside down gently before shaking to make sure no water escapes. To avoid any bubbles, make sure that the water completely fills the jar. You may have to add more to top it off.

Step 4: Best in snow!

Tip–For a blizzard, gently shake left to right. For a peaceful snowfall, simply tip once.

Shake and let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! For some extra festive flair, tie a piece of ribbon into a bow around the base.

I consider myself the luckiest spokespuppet ever because I get to talk about the thing I love the most everyday – furniture! Tufted headboards, rustic finishes, the difference between a sofa and a couch (yes, there is a difference)… I could go on and on. Oh, I just love furniture and I’m SO excited that I have this blog to share my passion with you! It may take me a little longer to create posts – have you ever tried typing with clay hands – but I look forward to talking furniture with you!
