Bob’s Gives Back During ‘Back to School’

What better way to start the new school year than with freshly sharpened pencils and a school room makeover from Bob’s?

Bob’s Discount Furniture asked educators in the Sacramento-area (California), Cleveland-area (Ohio), and Minnesota to share why their staff lounges and classrooms needed a makeover.

Bob’s selected five lucky schools to receive a $5,000 Bob’s shopping spree for a staff lounge makeover as well as 10 schools to receive a $500 gift card and $250 grant to create a student-centered space.

Teachers and staff of Bowling Green Charter McCoy Academy in Sacramento, Cailf., were surprised with a new staff lounge makeover to start the school year.

Bob’s has long supported school systems through reading programs and donations. This year alone, Bob’s will grant $20,000 to schools in celebration of new store openings coast to coast. Since last January, Bob’s has donated more than $100,000 in gift cards to schools in the communities where they do business.

“Bob’s is thrilled to know students are finding quiet areas to read and brand-new calm-down corners thanks to this contest,” said Bob’s Communications and Community Outreach Director, Lindsay Ruszczyk. “Teachers give so much to students and this is just one small way we can give back,” she added.

In addition to Bowling Green Charter McCoy Academy in Sacramento, Cailf., Atwater Cosmos Grove City School in Grove City, Minn., John Marshall School of Civic and Business Leadership in Cleveland, Ohio, Lake Elmo Elementary in Lake Elmo, Minn., and Moreland Arts & Health Sciences Magnet School in West St. Paul, Minn., received $5,000 to shop for furniture at Bob’s.

Thanks to the staff lounge makeover contest, teachers are enjoying new stylish sofas as well as useful work bars with built-in power. Some schools even treated staff to Bob’s massage chairs. Talk about a break-room!

“Our staff works extremely hard and are the heart and soul of [our] Title 1 (low-income) school…” wrote Prescilla Medrano, a social worker at Bowling Green Charter McCoy Academy in Sacramento, Calif. “Teachers and support staff deserve a space that feels relaxing to unwind for their 40-min lunches and take care of themselves… they are one of the most hardworking staff I know that goes the extra mile for students and step-up every single time.”

Bob’s is honored to be part of a fresh start for a great 2023-2024 school year!
