Omni-channel furniture retailer honors Santa Ana teen for life-saving actions
SANTA ANA, Calif. – November 15, 2019 – Bob’s Discount Furniture, one of the fastest growing furniture retailers in the United States, teamed up with the Los Angeles Chargers to honor a Santa Ana teen after his quick actions saved his family from a house fire. On Wednesday, members of the Bob’s team surprised the family of Juan Hermosillo, the 14-year old hometown hero, with a new furniture delivery and room makeover. Two Charger Girls were also on-hand to thank the teen for his courage and selflessness.
Earlier this year, Juan Hermosillo awoke in the early morning hours to the smell of smoke in his family home. After seeing plumes of black smoke coming from his parents’ bedroom, Juan acted quickly to alert the family and attempted to extinguish the flames. While his mother and other family members were able to escape, Juan courageously rescued his sleeping stepfather from the fire. In September, Juan received an Orange County Fire Authority Life Saving certificate in a special ceremony to honor his actions.
The Chargers invited Juan and his entire family to the Chargers vs. Steelers game on October 13th, where they were honored on the field and presented with a custom Chargers jersey with the family’s last name on the back. During the game, it was announced that Bob’s would be donating furniture for a room makeover. Bob’s Showroom Manager Jonathan Arita, who was on hand for the delivery and room reveal, later assisted the Hermosillo family in measuring their room and selecting the new furniture.
