Decorating a room in your home is one thing, making it a feel cozy is a whole other thing. It’s not always easy, but I have some ideas that I want to share with you to hopefully inspire you to add some charm to your space!
Be true to your style
The best way to design a room in your home is to bring in your favorite pieces and make it uniquely YOU. Your dining room is the heart of your home for gathering guests – tell your story how you want to tell it, be true to your style!
For the dining room, I decided to go with Farmhouse style. Farmhouse decor is very inviting, relaxing and full of charm and character – it creates the perfect foundation for a cozy dining room. Follow me as I tell you my story.
Define your color palette
An important step in designing any room is to decide on a color palette. A neutral palette is the perfect foundation to create any cozy space. I chose a light, neutral color palette – pale shades of gray, beige, and white, muted sage, and lavender for a touch of color. These soft colors create a bright, welcoming space!
Statement pieces
If you feel that your main pieces are a drab, it may be time to buy some new furniture or perhaps refinish some of the pieces that you already have. I fell in love with this large Farmhouse Scarlett dining table and china hutch because of their comforting, charming, and distressed features giving the space a cozy feel.
Love me some candles
Candles bring life to any space. They fill your room with a refreshing fragrance of your choice and a pure relaxing ambiance. Light them up at least 10 minutes before your guests arrive so that the beautiful aroma fills the room!
Bring life into your space
The key to a fresh and welcoming dining room is to use indoor plants. They instantly lift the atmosphere and add a boost of liveliness. Fake or real, there are a variety of plants to choose from that will best compliment your style. Add new dimension to your space by using unique vases, recycled containers, or hanging planters!
Entertain your guests
Does your dining room feel welcoming and dinner party-ready? A beautifully set table will create an inviting atmosphere for your family and friends. Making sure that there are drinking glasses and refreshments on hand will allow your guests to make themselves feel at home. Bar carts are a fun way to display a variety of cocktail options for everyone. They’re also portable, stylish accent pieces with another surface space to add decor!
