The communities around our stores and distribution centers have always extended such a warm welcome to my Bob’s associates, which is why we love to show our support right back to them.
In the past three years, Bob’s Discount Furniture’s Community Outreach team has surprised schools and community organizations with over a quarter of a million dollars through our Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) donation program! That’s HUGE…and so are the checks, which is why I usually ask our store teams to help me out with the check presentations.
This year, National Random Acts of Kindness Day falls on Friday, February 17, which happens to be when we open our first new Bob’s store of 2023 in Lawrence, NY. And as I always do, I’ve invited a school and community organization to each receive a $2,500 RAK donation at our Grand Opening.
But we don’t just stop at one day of celebrating. We celebrate Random Acts of Kindness all year long. (I’m totally that friend that celebrates their birthday for a full month!). During 2022, we planned over $75,000 in RAK donations around our Grand Openings, Days of Giving initiative, and more.
We recently met up with Scott Neely, Director of Development for nonprofit Rodman for Kids, to discuss how he felt about receiving a Random Act of Kindness from Bob’s at our Franklin, MA opening.
