Bob’s Discount Furniture recently donated 20 full-size mattresses and foundations to The Blessing Board, a Pittsburgh-area nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and families in need by providing furniture, household goods and home medical equipment at no cost. The non-profit’s mission is to ensure that everyone, regardless of their circumstances, has access to a safe and comfortable home environment.
A Comforting Contribution
As part of our commitment to giving back to the community, Bob’s recognizes the profound impact that a simple mattress can have on an individual’s well-being, especially for those who are transitioning into a new home or escaping difficult living situations.
“I am proud to work for Bob’s because of our commitment to supporting the local communities around our stores, especially through our support of amazing non-profits like The Blessing Board,” said Lauren Pearson, Bob’s Director of Customer Relationship Management.
Pearson, a Pittsburgh resident for over a decade, previously nominated The Blessing Board for a random acts of kindness donation during Bob’s 12 Day of Giving. She and her husband have donated to The Blessing Board in the past and were inspired by their experience contributing to the organization, knowing first-hand that their work is helping so many families in Pittsburgh build, or re-build, their homes.
Pearson added, “Their organization benefits so many different types of people: people recovering from homelessness, families who’ve lost their homes due to tragedy, people rehabilitating after incarceration, women and children escaping domestic violence, and so many more. I love that Bob’s donation will provide a comfortable, restful place to sleep for 20 of our neighbors who are starting over or working to rebuild their lives.”
The Blessing Board’s Executive Director, Rich Garland, expressed his gratitude for the donation. “We are incredibly thankful for Bob’s generosity. Their donations of funding and mattresses and foundations over the past six months make a tangible difference for families in our community who are struggling. A good night’s sleep is essential to health and well-being, and these mattresses will provide comfort and support to so many who need it.
