Bob’s Discount Furniture celebrated the grand opening of seven new stores this Labor Day weekend: Henrietta (NY), South Bend (IN), Algonquin (IL), Polaris (OH), Reynoldsburg (OH), Toms River (NJ) and Bethel Park (PA).
To celebrate Bob’s new beginnings in each of these locations, $2,500 checks were issued to two highly deserving local charitable organizations/schools who are making a difference in their communities. Bob’s deep commitment to serving the communities in which its stores reside is very important to us and a cornerstone of our core values.

Henrietta, NY
Person Centered Housing Options
Person Centered Housing Options, Inc., (“PCHO”) was founded in 2015 by Nicholas Coulter and Charlie Albanese to address chronic homelessness in their hometown of Rochester, New York. PCHO has engaged in numerous housing first initiatives from the state, city and county. Nicholas J. Coulter, Executive Vice President and Chief of Development and Community Engagement, attended the grand opening on behalf of the organization.
The Norman Howard School
The Norman Howard School is a community of students, parents, and educators who seek to understand, support, and celebrate one another, while providing an educational experience tailored for every individual. Rebecca Ferri, Director of Development, attended the grand opening of Bob’s on behalf of the school.
South Bend, IN
Corvilla & Cleveland Elementary School
Corvilla provides life-enhancing services to enrich the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities while encouraging respect and dignity in the communities in which they live. Founded in 1959 as COR by a group of parents, Corvilla provides respite care for children with disabilities on Manchester Drive in South Bend. Lori Tharp and Rod Tackett, Chief Advancement Officer, attended the grand opening of Bob’s on behalf of the organization.
Cleveland Elementary School is on the northwest edge of Elkhart that provides over 550 students with a superior education, based on community giving and creativity. Cleveland’s mission is to create a learning environment that inspires all to become passionate learners and responsible citizens. Those at Cleveland see the bright promise that is within every child and adult and encourage everyone to meet their maximum potential. Principal Kelly Carmichael attended the grand opening of Bob’s on behalf of the school.
Algonquin, IL
Veterans Path to Hope
Veterans Path to Hope (“VPH”) was founded in 1996 by Alan Belcher, a Vietnam combat veteran and licensed counselor. Since 2001, VPH has owned and operated New Horizons, a transitional living program in Hebron, Illinois, for 20 homeless veterans who want a chance to rebuild their lives. Laura Franz, Executive Director, attended the grand opening of Bob’s on behalf of the organization.
Jacobs High School
Jacobs High School is directly aligned to its district’s central mission: to provide engaging and inclusive educational experiences that empower and equip all students to discover, innovate, and succeed now and in the future. Matthew Bennett, Associate Principal of Operations, attended the grand opening of Bob’s on behalf of the school.
Polaris, OH
Home for Families
Home for Families (“HFF”) is a leading Columbus nonprofit dedicated to transforming lives through comprehensive housing interventions, financial stabilization, and educational youth programming. Originally founded as The Homeless Families Foundation, HFF was established in 1986 by impassioned community members driven by the conviction that no child should ever experience homelessness — not even for a night. Andrew Snouffer, VP of Continuous Improvement & Advancement, attended the grand opening of Bob’s on behalf of the organization.
Olentangy Meadows Elementary School
Olentangy Meadows Elementary School’s mission is grounded in its pursuit to facilitate maximum learning for every student. That mission drives all behaviors and decisions. It’s a place that focuses on the needs of the whole child, and strives to produce aware, global citizens who will be successful after graduation. Kristin Baker, Principal and Lynn McNutt, Assistant Principal, attended the grand opening of Bob’s on behalf of the school.
Reynoldsburg, OH
Star House
Star House founded in 2006, is a social service agency that operates Central Ohio’s only drop-in center for youth, ages 14-24, who are experiencing homelessness. At the drop-in center, youth are provided immediate access to food, clothing, hygiene items, laundry facilities, showers, and a safe place to be, as well as access to therapy, case management, housing, transportation, health care, employment, education, addiction services, legal aid, government benefits, ID cards and more. In addition, Star House is the nation’s only drop-in center that hosts continuous best-practice research. Kat Earles, Vice President of Finance & Controller, attended the grand opening of Bob’s on behalf of the organization.
The STEM Middle @ Baldwin Road Junior High School
The STEM Middle @ Baldwin Road Junior High School community is committed to an environment where all authentically seek to motivate, inspire, invest in, and empower STEM Scholars to imagine, question, design, excel, and soar far beyond their wildest dreams, in the world of eSTEM, Health Sciences, Social Justice, and anywhere else they seek to either blaze a trail or leave a lasting fingerprint. Ocean’s Harbor House
For 35 years, Ocean’s Harbor House has addressed the needs of runaway and homeless youth, while also providing services to youth and families in crisis. With a multilayered menu of programs for youth alone or together with their families, the organization provides shelter, support and services that are designed to meet them wherever they are on their journey. Alice Woods, Executive Director, attended the grand opening of Bob’s on behalf of the organization.
Walnut Street Elementary
At Walnut Street Elementary, there is a community emphasis on respect, responsibility, and safety for all members. Using the school’s PBSIS program and monthly character themes, the school’s environment cultivates positive habits, citizenship, and care for all. Sisters Place
Sisters Place faithfully provides opportunities for families and individuals to overcome poverty and homelessness through empowerment, housing, wellness, personal and professional advancement services. Sisters Place strives to be a collaborative community asset that eliminates barriers to success for those experiencing poverty and homelessness. Pathfinder School
Pathfinder School serves 5 to 21-year-old special education students throughout Allegheny, Butler, Beaver, Greene and Washington counties. Principal Renee D. Kozusko attended the grand opening of Bob’s on behalf of the school.
