New England Patriots team up with Bob’s and A Bed for Every Child to provide beds for local children in need at Gillette Stadium
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. – August 13, 2018 – Bob’s Discount Furniture and the Patriots hosted an incredible event for 200 children in need at Gillette Stadium on Monday, August 13th. The children, ages 8 to 13 from Lynn and Salem, were surprised by the grand unveiling of 200 Bob O Pedic Patriots-themed beds, one bed for each child. In addition to the beds, the children also received new Patriots bedding and pajamas donated by Pajama Program.
The event kicked off with a few words from New England Patriots CEO Robert Kraft, followed by Mike Skirvin, President and CEO of Bob’s Discount Furniture. Cheers burst through Gillette as Devin and Jason McCourty, James White, Kyle Van Noy, and other Patriots teammates joined in the fun. Throughout the event, the children were treated to face painting, caricature art, and football themed games with Patriots cheerleaders and Pat Patriot. The evening concluded with a special screening of Despicable Me 3. The children were then escorted home as they await the special delivery of their new beds.
Bob’s Discount Furniture has partnered with Special Olympics on this giving initiative yearly since 2014, raising a total of $347,000 to date. This year, the funds raised will support training and competition programs for athletes across the 18 states where Bob’s has a strong retail presence. The donation will also help offset the costs of uniforms, sports equipment, competitions, facilities, and transportation.
