MANCHESTER, Conn. – May 31, 2019 – Bob’s Discount Furniture, one of the fastest growing furniture retailers in the country, continues its ongoing support of Special Olympics through its successful “Café Collections for a Cause” campaign. Throughout the months of January through March, Bob’s raised $72,000 via collections in stores across the country, which were then matched by the company.

Breaking across TV, radio, OOH, digital, and in-store on July 1, the campaign is designed to drive reappraisal of the Bob’s Discount Furniture brand. “We recognize that we have been emphasizing the wrong two words in our name for all these years: discount furniture,” explains Steve Nesle, CMO of Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We don’t sell discount furniture. We offer Bob’s discount on furniture. ‘Bob’s discount’ is an elegant articulation of all the work that goes on behind the scenes to engineer our values.”

Bob’s Discount Furniture has partnered with Special Olympics on this giving initiative yearly since 2014, raising a total of $347,000 to date. This year, the funds raised will support training and competition programs for athletes across the 18 states where Bob’s has a strong retail presence. The donation will also help offset the costs of uniforms, sports equipment, competitions, facilities, and transportation.

“We are so grateful for Bob’s ongoing commitment to Special Olympics,” said Mary Beth McMahon, president and CEO of Special Olympics Massachusetts. “The ‘Café Collections for a Cause’ campaign is a wonderful giving initiative that motivates members of local communities to learn about and help support our mission.”

To commemorate last week’s opening of the Bob’s store location in Murrieta, California, the $72,000 check donation was presented to both Krystal Johnson, Special Olympics athlete and global messenger, and Brandon Tanner, director of corporate partnerships for Special Olympics Southern California. The quarterly “Café Collections for a Cause” campaigns are one of the many ways that Bob’s carries out its mission to help as many schools and non-profits as possible in the communities it serves.
