On the morning of Tuesday, August 24, a fire at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 347 hall in Glen Gove, New Jersey destroyed the food supply and equipment at the headquarters of NOSH, a division of the North Shore Soup Kitchen.
Thousands of pounds of food were lost during the fire. There was enough food in the supplies to feed the community for two months. All of the refrigeration equipment and 23 refrigerators were damaged beyond repair.
NOSH was created in 2020 with the goal of helping individuals and families who need food assistance. In July of 2020, NOSH became a program with the North Shore Soup Kitchen. Each week around 150 NOSH volunteers deliver two meals to homes of over 500 families in the Glen Cove, Sea Cliff, Locust Valley, Bayville and surrounding areas.
When I heard about the devastating fire, I knew that I wanted to help out. Supporting the local communities that we serve is very important to my team and I.
On Wednesday, Sept. 8 my team presented a check for $10,000 to NOSH to help them replenish the food supply. We understand that programs such as NOSH play a vital role in supporting the overall well-being of our community. My team and I were honored to show our appreciation for all of their hard work, by donating $10,000 to the program.
