MANCHESTER, Connecticut – September 9, 2024 – Bob’s Discount Furniture, one of the fastest growing omni-channel furniture retailers in the country, celebrates World EV Day through a recent partnership with Werner Final Mile, the last mile delivery service provider across the United States, Mexico and Canada.
On August 14, 2024, the companies held a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to commemorate the first EV truck they’ve partnered on. The well attended event was held outside of Bob’s Discount Furniture’s home office in Manchester, CT.
World EV Day was created to raise awareness and promote the shift to electric vehicles worldwide. 2024 is the fifth anniversary of World EV Day, which was created by Ade Thomas, and his sustainability media company, Green.TV, in partnership with ABB, a global technology company.
Since the event just last month, the EV truck has completed 132 home deliveries and continues to serve as a strong example of Werner Final Mile’s dedication to innovation and Bob’s Discount Furniture’s contributions to a better future for its customers and the communities in which it operates.

The truck completed its first home deliveries on Tuesday, August 13th. The ribbon-cutting event on Wednesday began with sentiments from Bob’s Discount Furniture President and CEO Bill Barton, followed by Bob’s EVP of Operations Ramesh Murthy, and Werner Final Mile Vice President Nathan Browne. The truck, outfitted with the logos of Bob’s Discount Furniture, Werner Final Mile and Izuzu, was also on display and available for photos.

This new truck is a prime example of our team’s ability to turn vision into reality and reduce our carbon footprint.”
The truck will be housed and dispatched from Bob’s Discount Furniture’s distribution center in Norwich, CT.
