Bob’s Discount Furniture Provides Over $200K to Support Hunger Relief

 

Manchester, CT – November 26, 2024 – Bob’s Discount Furniture, one of the fastest growing omnichannel furniture retailers in the country, is proud to announce that the company has donated more than $200,000 this year to hunger relief organizations across the country.

To kick off the season of giving, Bob’s Discount Furniture Charitable Foundation dispersed 194 donation checks worth $1,000 each to food assistance organizations nationwide near every Bob’s Discount Furniture store and distribution center.

“For more than ten years, Bob’s Discount Furniture and its employees have been proud to support food pantries in our communities,” said Bob Kaufman, president emeritus and co-founder of Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We know that many people struggle to feed their families, and we’re hoping these donations help provide meals to those in need this holiday season.” 

Bob’s Charitable Foundation has supported hunger relief organizations for over 10 years and is proud of many longstanding relationships with community organizations devoted to eradicating hunger. One such organization is Philabundance, which serves five counties in Pennsylvania and four counties in New Jersey. Philabundance’s mission is drive hunger from communities today and end hunger for good.

“A huge thank you to Bob’s Discount Furniture for their continued generosity in supporting Philabundance since 2014,” said a spokesperson from the organization. “Their philanthropy has helped us in our mission to drive hunger from our communities. We could not do this important work without partners like Bob’s.”

Bob’s has also supported other support programs like the school-based pantry program, Hubbard’s Cupboard, through the Sam Hubbard Foundation. In collaboration with Crayons to Computers, Hubbard’s Cupboards supports immediate student needs by providing items from new backpacks to healthy snacks.

“We’re incredibly honored to support a wide variety of hunger relief initiatives during the holiday season and all year long,” said Lindsay Ruszczyk, Director of Communications and Community Outreach for Bob’s Discount Furniture. “We are so grateful to our community partners who provide much-needed resources and programs to support those identifying as food insecure.”

Bob’s store employees also contribute to hunger relief by holding store-based food drives during the holiday season. Several years running, Bob’s New York-based stores have collected food for City Harvest serving all five New York City boroughs. Last year the group collected more than 450 pounds of food for the organization and are collecting food in participating stores now through January.

Bob’s is also proud to support 9/11 Day Meal Pack – a nationwide meal packing event. Last year Bob’s participated in the meal packing event in Boston, Mass., helping to pack more than 7M meals and this year, employees participated in the Detroit-based event, helping to provided more than 8.6M meals for those in need. 9/11 Day was established to mark remembrance and provide a day of service through events like meal packing and beyond.
