Bob’s Discount Furniture is honored to support the New London Homeless Hospitality Center (NLHHC) by providing 12 new mattresses and frames to serve residents of their newly opened affordable housing apartments.
A team of Bob’s employees volunteered to prepare apartments for new residents in addition to donating beds.
“We are so grateful to Bob’s Discount Furniture for outfitting the apartments with brand-new Bob-O-Pedic mattresses and frames, and for providing a crew to deliver them and set them up,” said Annah Perch, NLHHC Director of Development. “Acts of kindness by companies like this make addressing the housing crisis a whole lot easier.”
These four new apartment units will be added to NLHHC’s affordable housing program. Founded in 2006, NLHHC collaborates with dozens of public and private programs and agencies to address the underlying causes of homelessness for each person and help him/her find permanent housing as quickly as possible.
About 600 people in southeastern Connecticut will seek help this year according to NLHHC. In addition to providing affordable housing, NLHHC offers a 40-bed shelter and a nine-room respite area providing 24-hour care to those facing health crises, from cancer to pneumonia.
“Supporting organizations who provide shelter for those in need is a pillar of our community giving here at Bob’s,” said Bob’s volunteer and Loss Prevention Manager John Carlone. “I am honored to help prepare these apartments to welcome new residents home.”
