This year is our 30th Anniversary!

Each February, Bob’s celebrates President’s Day and the opening of new stores with a chain-wide celebration. This year is extra-special, though, because it’s Bob’s 30th anniversary! 

We’re continuing our tradition of celebration by hosting Bobfest 2021 digitally at mybobs.com. Over the holiday weekend, from Saturday to Monday, we’ll have fun content for all ages hosted on our site, such as printable activities, balloon art tutorials, and even our first ever couch concerts!

But what exactly are we celebrating?

Thirty years ago, in 1991, Bob Kauffman opened his first furniture store in Newington Connecticut. From the day it opened, it was obvious that Bob’s Discount Furniture was a different kind of furniture buying experience. 

This new store skipped out on phony sales, gimmicks, and pushy salespeople. Instead, Bob focused on making sure his customers felt good while shopping at Bob’s. He even included free candy, cookies, coffee and other snacks in all his stores. That customer-focused mindset is still a defining feature of Bob’s today- thirty years later!

When you look at a price tag in a Bob’s store, you know you’re getting the lowest possible price, no matter what time of year it is. Other retailers often inflate their “regular” prices to make their sales look better, but we believe that’s unfair and misleading, and we just won’t do it. 

Here at Bob’s, we believe in “everyday low prices.” Always have, always will. That means we work to give you the lowest possible price every day- not just when it’s convenient for the company. 

But what about the “discount?”

A big part of “Bob’s discount” is the company’s buying strategy. We buy huge amounts of furniture every year, direct from the manufacturers. That quantity gives us a leg up when negotiating prices and features, so we can work to get you the deals you deserve on furniture you really want.

Speaking of manufacturers…

Over the years, we’ve forged incredible relationships with manufacturers all over the world. We’re proud of the manufacturers we work with, because we only choose the best- companies with proven track records of treating their employees fairly and using only the best possible materials. Those relationships are key ingredients in the savings soup we call “Bob’s Discount”!

Tufted headboards, rustic finishes, the difference between a sofa and a couch (yes, there is a difference)… I could go on and on.
