NASA may have created memory foam, but I brought it to the good people of Earth to enjoy in the form of my world-famous Bob-O-Pedic Memory Foam. While other mattress companies may make it seem like you need to be a rocket scientist to understand what memory foam is exactly, I say phooey to that.
We all deserve a great night’s sleep and that’s why I put together this handy guide that tells you everything you wanted to know about memory foam mattresses… and even more things that you didn’t even know that you wanted to know about memory foam mattresses.

Not all Memory Foam Mattresses Are Created Equal
Contrary to popular belief, not all memory foam mattresses are created equal. Now that’s something those fancy scientists won’t tell you. They also won’t tell you that freeze-dried ice cream doesn’t even compare to regular ice cream… but that’s an aside.
Anyhoo, just because a mattress has memory foam in it does not mean all memory foam mattresses are equal. Nope, not at all.
I have strict, minimum specifications for all of my memory foam mattresses. I require at least one layer of four-pound memory foam, equal to one cubic foot of foam, in all of my memory foam mattresses. In other words, I use a higher density memory foam that is of better quality. The high-quality memory foam has a direct impact on the longevity of the mattress. Low-density memory foam mattresses don’t last as long. I put a lot of emphasis on quality memory foam mattresses that include high-density memory foam you won’t find at a lot of my competitors.

There Are Different Types of Memory Foam
Memory foam can exist without any enhancements, but I don’t like to be just ordinary, so I created a few different types of memory foam.
Bob-O-Pedic Gel Memory Foam
I created Bob-O-Pedic Gel Memory Foam for temperature regulation and pressure relief. By adding gel to my memory foam, I was able to combat traditional concerns about memory foam feeling hot when people sleep. While all memory foam is temperature-sensitive (by nature and design) the gel helps to regulate body temperature and help keep you from overheating while sleeping. How cool is that?! (literally)
Bob-O-Pedic Gel Memory Foam w/ Charcoal
After creating Bob-O-Pedic Gel Memory Foam, I asked myself how I can make this better. Then it dawned on me. Add charcoal. So I did.

Bob-O-Pedic Quick Response Memory Foam
I was having so much fun creating Bob-O-Pedic Memory Foam, I didn’t stop with the charcoal version. My newest formula of Bob-O-Pedic Memory Foam includes a quicker response time. This innovative memory foam provides a different feel compared to typical memory foams that are slow to come back. Although it still conforms just as well as our traditional Bob-O-Pedic Memory Foam, it has a more resilient feel, similar to latex.
Keeping it Cool
I have heard concerns from a number of people that they don’t like memory foam mattresses because they are warm to sleep on. I get it. I don’t like to be warm when I sleep so that’s why I add Gel Memory Foam to my memory foam mattresses. The Gel Memory Foam helps with temperature regulation.
In addition to the Gel Memory Foam, my mattresses also have covers that help cool you down while you sleep. You can literally feel the temperature difference when you place your hand on my cool-to-the-touch covers. This is all made possible by Phase Change Material–I like to call it PCM for short.
Phase Change Material (PCM)
This feature is found in all of my mattresses and pillows that have a cooling cover. These innovative threads are woven into the cover and are designed to absorb excess body heat, then release it back to the body when needed. While the cover feels cool-to-the-touch, the best way to describe this technology is that it’s not too hot and not too cold: it’s just perfect!

Another concern I hear from customers is the safety of memory foam mattresses. Well, rest assured, because all of my mattresses are CertiPUR-US® certified. This is not a legal requirement, but something I believe is the right thing to do.
CertiPUR-US® foam has been tested and certified by independent laboratories. It has been put through a series of tests to ensure content, indoor emissions, and durability meet the strict standards of the CertiPUR-US® program. CertiPUR-US® certified foams have low emission (VOCs) for indoor quality; are made without prohibited phthalates, ozone depleters (no CFCs), mercury, lead or heavy metals, formaldehyde, and PBDE flame retardants; and have been tested for durability and performance.

Memory foam mattresses are ideal for adjustable beds because not only do they conform to your body but they also conform to adjustable bases. Any mattress that is on an adjustable base must be able to move with the bed. The flexibility of the memory foam allows the mattress to move with the bed instead of against it
